If neither a glass of wine nor a cup of coffee is what you are craving then this week you are in luck because we are  focussing on tea.

The Pastel Teacup

First up is The Pastel Teacup, located in Strathalbyn (population 6,500) on the historic High Street, only a 40-minute drive from Bellevue.

The Pastel Teacup is a family-owned business focused on providing a memorable experience with a one-of-a-kind High Tea service and unique range of giftware.

Currently their High Teas are served in 2 sessions per day – at 10.30am 12.30pm & 2.00pm to 4.00pm – Thursday to Sunday. (Book online via their website)

Each High Tea is served with a teapot filled with your choice of tea, and a 3-tier stand consisting of freshly made sandwiches, scones, savouries and sweets.

If you have indulged a little too much and need to stand for a while you can always take a look at the gifts for sale. With every High Tea they sell $1 goes into a fund to host a High Tea for people struggling with mental health issues, so your personal indulgence is also doing community good. A WIN WIN ?

They offer the  perfectly brewed cup of tea.   They serve an all-day Devonshire Tea together with a range of fresh homemade cakes and biscuits. The fairy tale style tea house also does barista-made coffee, plus homemade sweets.

Retro Vibe

Located on the strand in Port Elliot (just a delightful 40-minute drive from Bellevue B&B), is the Retro Vibe. It is a great place if you just want to have a laidback afternoon.

The furniture in the cafe is cool, with a lot of it for sale (and plenty of non-furniture items for sale as well) so you get to try it before you buy.  They have a record player(!) and plenty of vinyl so the music is great. There’s plenty of formica and vinyl furniture to set the scene.

The team is friendly and helpful plus the food is great. Warm up your afternoon in this relaxing place. The cafe inside has plenty of room with a choice of seating areas (includes cosy nooks) bonus; there is and outdoor deck.

You also get to experience their retro-inspired dishes (often available) so get your taste buds ready!

Old school wraps (salami, tomato and cream cheese, for example), Devonshire tea (2 large scones with home-made strawberry jam, and fresh cream), and naturally a great pot of tea.

Oh, did we mention there is complimentary WIFI.

Tealicious Cakes

Located just off of the main street in Willunga on the Aldinga Road (an easy 7-minute drive from @bellevuebb) is Tealicious Cakes.

This is an OTT venue (think crystal chandeliers!), this tearoom is however home to the most delicious, yummy, edible works of art. The service complements these mouthfuls of joy and makes for an unforgettable experience. Tealicious high teas are delectable and come with a variety of teas, a handpicked ‘tealicious’ coffee blend (did you notice the tea-ness of that pun! It’s not ours we lifted that directly from their website) and fluffy homemade scones, all served lashings of local jams and fresh Fleurieu cream.

They provide an excellent range of teas and cakes, biscuits, croissants, scones, macarons and light lunches. However; the standout feature of Tealicious is their range of amazing cupcakes. This place is cupcake heaven.

The cupcakes are decorated in an array of colourful and sweet designs. It should be noted that the range of cupcakes changes frequently so your favourite this week may not be there when you return next week.

Tealicious is the ideal place for a gathering or catch up with friends or even as a gift for that special someone

Inside the tearoom pastel pink and white are the dominate shades on the walls, there are comfy upholstered chairs, marble tables, silver mirrors on the walls and chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. This place has been designed to make it unforgettable.

Wanting the traditional three-tier High Tea? Then this is the place for you! Tea is served in china cups, because you prefer it that way!

Takeaway “High tea in a box” now available. If you have all the cups and saucers and want to do it at home, or for a beautiful picnic, they can provide the sweet and savoury high tea treats.

Flower Cellar Door

It’s not a cellar door as you know it, though; as the name suggests, they offer an amazing range of fresh cut flowers, as well as hot and cold drinks, light meals and a selection of sweet treats. Set in an idyllic paddock surrounded by vines, this flower shop and café – Flower Cellar Door  is home to some gorgeous greenery and floral goodies available for purchase. It’s also a perfect spot to have a small bite and a cuppa tea and an 8 min drive from Bellevue B&B.

The welcoming committee is adorable! (Stormy is a wonderful good-natured dog who gently says hello when you arrive).

Not too long ago the owners transformed one of their greenhouses into a cosy seating area, so you can sit inside the greenhouse tunnel as the flowers grow around you. The result has to be seen to be believed. The rustic café is an oasis; surrounded by greenery, the earthy tones of the café’s facade, as well as the bench tops and shade cloth, provide a stark contrast to the gorgeous flowers.

Like all good menus it is not extensive what is offered is very tasty & well presented.  There is plenty of space to sit with your tea and admire the floral view.  Don’t worry about the weather if it is raining you can listen to the rain pelt down onto the glass windows.

Put aside a couple of hours to just sit and enjoy and definitely give this place a go…

The Fleurieu Pantry

If you are enjoying the sea breeze at Port Noarlunga or have just snorkelled the Port Noarlunga reef then head to the nearby Fleurieu Pantry for a decadent High tea.

The Fleurieu Pantry is tucked away behind the old Port Noarlunga Antiques building, hidden from the hustle and bustle of Port Noarlunga’s main street.

The Fleurieu Pantry is part of the Eat Local South Australia movement, supporting local produce. They also support all different types of dietary requirements, including gluten free, vegan, raw and paleo.

Once you make your way through the entry door at the end of the alley, the cafe opens out and up. It almost feels like a garden party, Decorations and art cover walls and hang from the rafters. Healthy living books and magazines are on display. Different kinds and sizes of seating, including bar seating at the back, are given personality with vintage tablecloths.

Their decadent high teas consist of a 4(!) tier stand with finger sandwiches, homemade tart and pasties. Then there are the sweets: Lemon curd cupcake, chocolate brownie, mini sticky date pudding and macaroon.

Served with a pot of tea,  tonic tea or dawn patrol coffee.  So, when you are ready you will need to book as this is not on a ‘walk-in” basis.

The Golden Fleece Café

The café is fitted out in a retro sixties style and features memorabilia from the Golden Fleece Petrol era. (1947-1981) Golden Fleece was known for its big and distinctive “golden merino” trademark and was a common sight for Australian motorists of the time. is

If the weather is glorious then sit yourself outside, if a little inclement it is toasty inside.

The Golden Fleece cafe has a range of light meals, cakes and snacks.  They have an extensive range of herbal and connoisseur teas available from Wildfire Organic Tea!

They have South Coast black tea, The Ginger Ninja, Protect Me Immunity Tea and Tree of Life Hibiscus just to name a few.  You want to linger for a bit longer? They have you covered with playing cards (inside only) and for kids (or the big kid in you!) toys and colouring…
