MCLAREN VALE MADE

Maxwell Wines’ McLaren Vale base features vineyards, a living maze and lime cave: surprises at their best.

Now it will host an exclusive lunch prepared by chefs who share nature as their muse. Shaping the day’s menu: Gill Meller, Danielle Alvarez and the in-house Fabian Lehmann.
Begin with a snack and glass of sparkling before heading into the winery and vineyards to learn about their history.

In the 100-year-old lime cave, Phil Musson and Brittany Jones from Choice Mushrooms will share their knowledge. Enjoy a mushroom-based canapé prepared by Lehmann, then a shiraz-inspired bite, overlooking vines. A barrel tasting in Maxwell’s winery will follow.

Then, your six-course lunch awaits. Hear from chefs throughout, learning about their craft and philosophies.

Meller is based in Dorset, England. A chef, food writer and cookery teacher at legendary River Cottage, championing seasonal cooking and starring the natural qualities of ingredients.

Alvarez grew up in Miami in a food-loving Cuban family. She spent four years with Alice Waters at Chez Panisse, moving to Australia in 2016 to lead Fred’s in Sydney. Alvarez is now pursuing new opportunities; her star power remains.

Maxwell Wines Lehmann’s home base. He has forged a reputation as one of South Australia’s most creative chefs whose flair never comes at the expense of flavour.
